Ever felt like you're being punished for trying to help? That's exactly where you find yourself in Where Winds Meet's Chapter 1 finale, Dust on the Rhombus Mirror. After the chaos of A Horse Neighs in the Forest, Aunt Han has you cooped up in your room copying texts. But Ruby isn't about to let you rot in boredom. She shows up with a message from Beard Gaung, the Sky Merchant, who has a deal for you.
Step outside and chat with Ruby. She's got your back and offers to finish your copying duties while you go see what Beard Gaung wants. You'll find him just down the steps from your house. He's down on his luck after being kidnapped, and all he asks for is a jar of wine to get back on his feet. Trade him the wine, and he spills the beans: he met a woman while traveling with the Horse Dancer you fought, and she seems tied to everything that's been happening.
Next, you need to track down Aunt Han. She's in the small houses at the center of Blissful Retreat. When you arrive, you overhear her talking with Yi Dao. He's digging for info about Uncle Jiang, who's been missing for years. Yi Dao also drops a bombshell: Aunt Han's love interest, Chu, appears to have died. That sends her storming out, so you can't talk to her. Instead, you talk to Yi Dao, but he brushes you off and leaves too, not satisfied with what Aunt Han told him.
Now, you realize that hiding won't solve anything. If danger found you after sixteen years, it'll find you again. So, you decide to leave with Yi Dao. Time to talk to Ruby again. She asks you to take her to Yi Dao, and you agree since you want to speak with him anyway. Head to the Bamboo Grove—it's an instant travel, so no long walk.
At the Bamboo Grove, Yi Dao is chilling on the roof of a shack. Tell him you want to go to Kaifeng with him. He likes your spunk and agrees to take you. He hops down, gives Ruby his horse, and tells you to meet him that evening. Ride Ruby back to town on her new horse. Along the way, you explain your plan to leave and ask her to look after things while you're gone. Back at Heaven's Pier, say your goodbyes to Ruby and then find Doudou by the river near the rafts. He's remembered his past and plans to find his family, so he leaves immediately.
Now, it's time to pack up. Head to the hidden room beneath the Sweetwine Tower. You'll need to be level 21 to continue, so make sure you've done your breakthrough. Push open the doors of the storage building and take the ladder down into the cellar. Your goal: find the Secret Haven key. Navigate the long hallways into a large room with ropes. Balance across them carefully—fall and you'll die and have to start over. Work your way down, following the quest prompts. At the bottom, climb onto a wooden platform and jump across the floating walkway to grab the key hidden in the rocks. Then, squeeze through a gap in the wall.
You'll find a pulley system. Drop onto the platform and ride it down. Push open the door at the bottom to enter a secret room. Open all the chests for loot, then push open the door on the lower level to exit into a large wine storage area. Turn right and climb the stairs to leave through the ornamental doors, leading to a decorated corridor. That's where you'll meet Yi Dao and set off on your journey.
