Vernal Umbrella Guide: How to Get It & Use It in Where Winds Meet

Ever found yourself wishing you could deal damage without getting your hands dirty? In Where Winds Meet, the Vernal Umbrella lets you do just that—and then some. It's a ranged DPS spear that can even act as a floating turret, raining down missiles while you keep your distance. But how do you get your hands on this unique weapon? Let's break it down.

First off, the Vernal Umbrella is one of four Weapon Martial Arts you can snag from Qi Sheng near the start of the campaign. All you need to do is return a Mystic Oddity to him, and he'll let you pick your reward. If you're early in the game, it's a smart move to grab this or the Thundercry Blade—otherwise, you'll have to wait until you reach the Keifeng region to get it the normal way.

So, what's the "normal way"? Head to the Time Tower in Keifeng City, which is home to the Velvet Shade sect. There, you can use Skill Theft to capture it from Hua Zhiqing. But first, you'll need to complete a brief quest that kicks off when you talk to a nearby Page Boy. Simple enough, right?

Now, why bother? The Vernal Umbrella is a beast at range. It can dish out serious damage while keeping enemies at arm's length, and it even has crowd control capabilities—it can immobilize foes, making it a solid pick for dealing with groups. Its Special Skill transforms it into a floating turret that launches missiles while you continue attacking. Pretty sweet.

But there's a catch: the Vernal Umbrella uses a unique resource called Blossom. You'll consume Blossom to trigger its Special Skill. To keep tabs on your Blossom, check the weapon icon in the lower-right corner of your screen. You'll see pink leaves growing along a vine—the more leaves that are filled in, the more Blossom you've built up. So, keep an eye on that and plan your attacks accordingly.

One more thing: the Vernal Umbrella was originally called the Ninefold Umbrella, so don't be confused if you see that name in some tooltips. Same weapon, same awesomeness.

So, whether you grab it early from Qi Sheng or later from Hua Zhiqing, the Vernal Umbrella is a fantastic addition to any ranged DPS build. Did this guide help you get yours? Let us know in the comments!
