Nameless General Boss Guide: How to Beat Him in Where Winds Meet

Struggling to beat the Nameless General in Where Winds Meet? This world boss from the 1.2 update is no joke—it's a brutal parry test that will punish even the strongest builds. But with the right strategy, you can take him down. Here's everything you need to know.

First, find him. The Nameless General hangs out at the Martial Temple in the southwestern corner of Kaifeng. Look for the red boss icon on your map—he's in the western courtyard. There are no prerequisites, but make sure your build is solid. Don't be shy about summoning help if you need it. If he's not spawning, try switching to Solo Mode or restarting the game.

Now, the fight itself. This is a parry test. You'll need to play defensively and wait for openings. In phase one, he usually opens with an unblockable gold glint combo, starting with a spiral dive. Getting hit by any of those is basically a death sentence, so dodge! His combos are long and full of mix-ups, so study his attacks and learn the timings. He likes to follow up spear stabs with quick swipes, so keep your guard up.

Here's a pro tip: you can hold block while pressing the parry button! That way, even if you miss the parry, you'll still block damage as long as you have stamina. He has two red glint attacks that must be parried—they'll one-shot you if they land. Both have a noticeable windup. For the first, he steps back and thrusts his spear. For the second, he leaps into the air and slams down. Press parry when you see the red flash, and you'll deflect it every time.

Only attack when he's staggered. Parry to break his Qi, then hit him while he's stunned. Use a finisher before he gets up, and maybe chug a healing potion while you're at it.

At half health, phase two begins. He gets lightning-based attacks and becomes way more aggressive. Keep your guard up—one or two hits can kill you. Watch for more gold glint unblockables, and put distance between you two to heal when those come out. There are new red glint attacks too, often right after long combos. The lightning effects can make the glint hard to see, so stay focused.

When you finally empty his health bar, don't celebrate yet! He'll unleash one last barrage of attacks before admitting defeat. Block and parry like your life depends on it—because it does. Once the flurry ends, he's done.
