Social Butterfly Event Guide: Where Winds Meet Rewards

Ever wanted to be the talk of the town? In Where Winds Meet, the Social Butterfly event lets you do just that—by spreading juicy gossip in a public newspaper for sweet rewards. It's part of the Thaw of Eons new year celebration, and it's packed with upgrade materials and cosmetics. Let's dive in!

The Social Butterfly event runs for three weeks, from December 11, 2025, to January 3, 2026. It's one of several activities in the Thaw of Eons celebration, alongside the Fortune Beyond Parlor minigame and the Fireworks Festival. Don't miss out—everything disappears when the event ends.

To unlock Wind Whispers and start the event, you'll need to complete a short side quest in Kaifeng. The event page can take you straight to it, but you might also stumble upon it while exploring. Look for a quest called "Correspondent: Eastern Herald" on the eastern side of Kaifeng City. It's marked with a green icon like any other quest. During the quest, you'll snap a photo of some people near the Eastern Herald—basically a tutorial for the Wind Whispers system.

Once you're in, you can earn event-specific currency called Lucky Money by completing challenges. Spend it in the event shop on cosmetics, Oscillating Jade, Inner Way Notes, and more. But some challenges might have you scratching your head. The trick is understanding how Wind Whispers and the newspaper system work.

The Velvet Shade sect has the power to refer or retract submitted articles before they appear in either the World's Digest or Floral Annals Untold. World's Digest has a wider reach, while Floral Annals Untold is a smaller gossip rag. Getting a referral boosts your article's chances of hitting World's Digest, while a retraction can pull it before publication.

To get a referral, find a Velvet Shade member of at least rank 2 and request an internal referral. Or, in the Wind Whispers menu, select your submission and choose "Seek Internal Referral" to see a list of random Velvet Shade members who can help.

To get an article retracted, you need to slander someone by tagging them in the article text before submitting. They'll get a notification, and they can then find a Velvet Shade disciple to retract it before it hits the press.
