Yordle Reroll Guide: Mastering Interest and Roll Timing

Master Yordle reroll with this guide: loss-streak for interest, slow roll at 6, 3-star carries, and countering rivals.

1. Early Game: Loss-Streaking for Interest and HP Floor

The core of the Yordle comp is to quickly activate the 3 Yordle trait, using its bonus AP and mana regen to gain an early advantage. However, reroll comps are weak early and bleed HP, so you must balance HP and economy carefully.

At the start, prioritize Tears or Rods for mana or AP items on your carries (e.g., Veigar, Tristana). After the first PvE round, if you have no 2-star units and few Yordles, consider open-forting or loss-streaking to secure 3-loss interest from 2-1 to 2-3, while ensuring you get key items or units at the 2-4 carousel. During the streak, avoid leveling, stay below 5 with low-quality traits, but always field at least 3 Yordles (e.g., Poppy, Ziggs, Tristana) to trigger the trait and minimize HP loss.

HP floor: stay above 70 HP at the end of Stage 2, and above 50 at the start of Stage 3. If you drop below, you've over-streaked; stop and roll to stabilize, or you'll have no room for error later. While streaking, prioritize defensive items (e.g., Bramble Vest, Dragon's Claw) on your frontline to reduce HP loss, while saving gold for later rolls.

2. When to Slow Roll and When to All-In for 3-Stars

The key to Yordle reroll is slow rolling at level 6 for 3-stars, because 1-cost and 2-cost odds are decent, and you can field 3 Yordle + 3 Mage (or 3 Yordle + 2 Gunslinger) as a transitional board. Here's the exact tempo:

  • 3-1: Level to 6, start slow rolling with 30-50 gold interest. You should have at least 3 Yordles and 2-3 2-star units. If your board is weak, roll a bit to stabilize, but never drop below 30 gold.
  • 3-2 to 4-1: Stay at 6, roll each round down to 30-50 gold, prioritizing Tristana (1-cost) and Ziggs (1-cost) 3-stars, while also collecting Poppy (1-cost) and Veigar (2-cost). If Veigar is scarce, you can chase him later in Stage 4.
  • 4-2: If Tristana and Ziggs aren't 3-star yet and you're below 50 HP, all-in to hit them before 4-3, or you'll fall off.
  • 5-1: If your core 3-stars still aren't hit and your HP is critical, all-in without keeping interest, because Yordles rely on 3-star quality to stabilize late.

Priority: Tristana > Ziggs > Veigar. Tristana is your main carry with Guinsoo's, Infinity Edge, and Last Whisper (or Giant Slayer); she deals massive damage at 3-star. Ziggs provides AOE and mana regen, making him a strong support at 3-star. Veigar can be a secondary carry if you have AP items, but he's lower priority.

3. Leveling and Trait Completion After Core 3-Stars

Once Tristana and Ziggs are 3-star, your core is set. Now choose your leveling path based on the lobby. Typically, level to 7 at 5-1 or 5-2, and to 8 at 6-1.

  • Level 7: Add 5 Yordle (requires a Yordle Emblem or 5 Yordle units) or add 2 Knight/2 Bastion for frontline tankiness. If you lack Yordles, add 2-star high-cost frontline (e.g., Leona, Galio) or crowd control (e.g., Alistar).
  • Level 8: Choose based on emblems and enemy comps. Against physical damage, add 3 Yordle + 2 Mystic (or 4 Mystic) for MR; against magic, add 2 Knight + 2 Ragewing. If you have a Yordle Emblem, go for 7 Yordle at 8, which massively boosts damage and survivability.

Item distribution: Tristana needs Guinsoo's; give her damage or sustain. Veigar or Ziggs gets AP items (Blue Buff, Jeweled Gauntlet, Rabadon's). Poppy or frontline gets tank items (Warmog's, Bramble, Dragon's Claw). Extra damage items go to Lulu or Veigar.

4. Countering Rivals and Accelerating Your Tempo

Reroll comps fear rivals. If you see multiple Yordle players or others contesting your units, adapt quickly:

  • Check rival count: After 2-1, scout other boards. If 2+ players are Yordle, abandon slow rolling and all-in early. At 3-2, roll down to zero to hit your 3-stars, even if it hurts your economy, or you'll crash later.
  • Transition options: If too many rivals prevent Tristana or Ziggs 3-star, pivot at 6 to Yordle + Mage (Veigar carry) or Yordle + Gunslinger (Lucian carry), leveraging the flexibility of the Yordle trait.
  • Speed up: With rivals, don't hoard gold. Roll to 20 gold each round, or even all-in, to hit 3-stars before 4-1, then level quickly to out-quality them. Also, buy key contested units (e.g., Poppy, Ziggs) even if you don't need them, to deny your rivals.
  • Positioning: When facing rivals, spread your units to avoid AOE wipes. Place your carry in a corner, frontline in front, and protect your backline. If they have assassins, adjust carry position to avoid being focused.

In short, when facing rivals, accelerate your tempo and don't greed for interest, or you'll both go out. Flexibility and adapting your roll timing based on your HP and unit availability is the essence of reroll comps.
