First, you need to know the difference between Online Mode and Co-op Mode. They're like two different games, and your progress in each is tracked separately. Online Mode is all about the massive shared world. Here, you can't progress your personal quests, but you can jump into dungeons, boss battles, and other activities listed in the Wandering Paths menu. Your Online Mode Level determines what you can do there.

Co-op Mode, on the other hand, is a more intimate affair. You team up with up to four others and share progress on the host's personal quests. As long as you're close enough to the host when they make progress, you'll get credit too. Your Solo Mode Level (which includes Co-op) determines your max character level, Energy, and Attributes.

Now, about cross-play and cross-progression. Good news: Where Winds Meet supports cross-play automatically, and you can't turn it off. That means PC and PS5 players can play together in Online Mode and matchmaking activities. Cross-progression is also possible, but you need to set it up. If you want to switch between PS5 and PC or different PC launchers, go to Settings > Other, click Bind Account, and follow the prompts to link your accounts.

So, how do you actually use Co-op Mode? It depends on whether you're joining or creating a team. To join someone else's team, accept an invite from the chatbox or open the Social menu, go to Co-op, and either enter a Co-op code or browse open groups on the left. To start your own team, select Team, then Create Team, and customize away. You can also hit Quick Team to hop into a group that's looking for members.

When you're out exploring, you might spot small yellow signposts labeled "Assist." Interact with one and select Call for Allies to invite others to help you with a challenge. If you need help and there's no signpost around, you can use a Signpost item, which you can buy from merchants or craft. Place it on the ground, write a message, and enable the Assist Invitation option. You can even add an image and emote to make your request stand out. Just remember, you need to be in an "Assist area" (usually near dungeons or boss fights) to enable that option.
